You often hear that in business honesty is the best policy. But does this oft-quoted line hold any water? Is honesty really the best policy? It is hard be believe when you see so many successful people who you know are phonies and so many unsuccessful people who you know are genuine and honest.

- Bernard Madoff, former NASDAQ chairman and current inmate, made billions by operating a Ponzi scheme, considered to be the biggest financial fraud in the history of USA, through an investment company he founded. He was eventually caught and sentenced to 150 years in prison.
- Dennis Kozlowski, former CEO of Tyco International and current jailbird, siphoned off millions of dollars to his personal coffer without the knowledge of investors. He went so far as to throw a $2 million birthday party for his wife in a Mediterranean island. But he eventually met his downfall and is in prison for 8 – 25 years.
